plein air painting

I truly love the outdoors. When the weather is nice, I pack my paints and look for a location to spend a few hours on a plein air painting. I will work in oils, acrylics or watercolor, depending on how far I will need to carry my supplies or if on a time limit. Many of my studies have become reference material for larger scale paintings in the studio.

The Olana Estate, Hudson, NY

Notes from the Olana Plein Air Event 2016 in Hudson, NY.
"On the first morning, I set up my easel on the foot path adjacent to the lovely Olana garden. After completing my painting, I packed up my art supplies and headed into the woods that wrapped around a heart shaped pond. Through the trees, I could see the Olana Estate house sitting on top of a hill in the distance surrounded by autumnal color. 
I returned early the next morning, day two of the Plein Air event. The fog could be seen lifting up from the Hudson River Valley below against a backdrop of the steely grey Catskill mountain range."
